Youghiogheny River Adventure

The Youghiogheny  River, commonly referred to as just “The Yough” (pronounced “Yock”) in southwest Pennsylvania is one of the premier whitewater rivers within an easy day’s drive from Michigan. It is a dam controlled river with guaranteed flows when other rivers may not be runnable.  This learning trip will help you hone your river running and playing skills on the Class 2 and Class 3 rapids of the Yough.

Day 1 has the option of warming up on either the Slippery Rock Creek or the Middle Yough depending on water levels.  One day could also include a tour of the nearby Frank Lloyd Wright Falling Water house (tour fee not included). Tent camping is included at the Kentuck Campground. RV camping or hotel accommodations are available but not included in the trip cost. Trip costs include mandatory river usage fee and shuttle fees.

Paddlers should have some experience in Class 2 whitewater but need not have any prior Class 3 experience.
